5-star hotel with private entrance to the Valley of the Temples
Location & Access
Villa Athena Resort sits within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples, 200m from the Temple of Concordia. The hotel has its own private entrance to the archaeological park, accessed with a room key, allowing guests to walk directly to the temples without queuing. Tickets are sold at the front desk, and the path passes a sensory garden and leads to the Garden of Kolymbetra and the Regional Archaeological Museum of Pietro Griffo.
Rooms & Accommodations
The 18th-century villa houses 32 air-conditioned rooms, each with a private marble bathroom. Select rooms overlook the Temple of Concordia or the garden, and some offer a private balcony, terrace, or courtyard. Room 205 (the villa suite) provides a large private balcony with direct temple views, while certain junior suites include a porthole in the bathroom wall framing the temple.
Dining
The on-site restaurant, Terrazza degli Dei, serves Italian and Mediterranean cuisine with panoramic views of the Valley of the Temples. A second dining venue, the Sicilian grill, is set in the herb and vegetable garden and offers grilled meats and wines during the summer. Breakfast is à la carte, featuring made-to-order eggs, fresh breads, and cakes; the dinner menu includes a chef's special aperitif and a tasting menu.
Wellness & Spa
The spa and wellness centre offers a full range of treatments, including back massage, body scrubs, facials, and couples massage. The spa features an emotional shower (hot-cold alternation), a Turkish bath, a private jacuzzi, and a relaxation area; guests can also book spa/wellness packages. A fitness centre with personal trainer, yoga classes, and a steam room is available, and the outdoor swimming pool overlooks the Temple of Concordia.
